Hi folks,

Does anyone here grow blueberries? I bought six young plants from Lidl last Thursday. Varieties are:

Blue Gold

Bluecrop

Nortland

Pioneer

Heerma

Goldtraube

Also got a couple of 60 litre bags of ericaceous compost. I had planned to plant them into buckets I get for half nothing from the local bakery, but on advice may plant them directly into the ground. Though I haven't tested the soil yet to see if it's suitable.

Just wondering who else is growing Blueberry plants and any general advice about them.

Thanks,

John

John i have grown them for about 2 years also, eric compost is the way to go in a large tub trug

let grow for the first year and prune 6 inches the second,

also feed 3 times a year with sulphate of potash..... a little handful around the top and water in....

Aldi and lidl plants tend to die off i find as they are not right hardy but some do thrive,

bumper harvests tend to happen after very cold winters, good luck with them...

so much tastier than the shop bought crap.........
