Setting up the scopes...

As you may or may not know, Mole has acquired a new scope, a Hawke Nite Eye SR 3-12 x 50, AO IR, dribblesome piece of kit with the SR6 reticle. Well I took it down the permission today, to get it zeroed, nice day, managed to get out of the wind to zero it in and it performed well.

 

Sad to say Mole did not, after the 14 metre zero I moved the box to 35 metres, erm, it was blurred, blurred as hell, reticle pin point sharp, target unreadable. Help, I tried moving down the mag range, from 10 to 3, it cleared a little, mag power back up, blurry as hell, trouble, what was wrong.

 

Teletubbies, that was what was wrong, Teletubbies. What do I mean? "Teletubbies say AO!!!"

 

I had not set the AO, oh Moron, oh Muppet, oh Pillock!

 

Set the AO to 50 yards, sharp, clear reticle. Zeroed in at 35 metres, then I set the scope that was on Mini-Me but now on Doctor Evil. Zeroed in the .22 and I thought I would give the new scope a trial, walking round I went up Nettly Knoll, saw a rabbit in the edge of the paddock down at the bottom.

 

Now I was only supposed to be setting up and zeroing in, so I am in blue jeans, black car coat, no camo, stalk down and get round the corner but rabbit sees the lamp and gives it legs. Oh bother!

 

Looking down the field I can see one, 10 metres in and 120 metres down. Time to stalk again, now the wind is blowing a gale, but towards me, ie the rabbit is upwind. I got to about 30 metres from where I saw the rabbit, looking where it was it had gone. Then I saw it had moved closer to me, so I lined up the SR, got a good aim and fired, wham. Rabbit rollover, so below here is a photo that is frankly pornographic, featuring kill and a very sexy optic on the top of the gun!

nice one mole love the scopes mate dont worry about the ao iv dun the same thing mate sat there scratching my head thinking im taken these back there f*****d but then my mate turned up and hey up there spot on i was trying to clime down a rabbit hole to hide. atb mac
