PBurns 9
Eddie Chapman has dug on dogs for more than 45 years and done terrier work for 20 hunts and been a professional terrierman for decades. He has a web site that lists 10 bitches, has published two excellent and useful books, answers his email and puts his phone number on his web site which anyone can find by simply Googling "FoxWarren terriers". The man is not hard to find, not hard to communicate with, hides nothing, and has more years of genuine field experience than most people on this board have actually lived. A LOT of working Jack Russells have Foxwarren in their pedigree somewhere. As to what what "someone told me" .... These anonymous boards are truely amazing. Eddie comes from an era when people had names and faces, and the dirt you threw was with a shovel, and not with a key board. It was a better time, I think. elisderyn 496
Fair do's P I have to agree with you in that post......... People critise but it would be the people doing the buying I'd ask the question off.......Its common knowledge that the man has done more in his life than most on here put together & its also common knowledge that MOST of his gear nowadays is for showing..........He does , however , still have working lines I know because I dug to a chapman dog last week & have dug to the same dog a few times now..........I dont think he's trying to hide anything & as has been said his working gear is more suited to the hunt terrierman ........ I have noticed that in recent weeks a few "names" rightly or wrongly have been openly attacked on these boards.........Time & a place imo & if people are that pertubed surely a knock on a door or a phonecall would be better.......... A pop on an open message board is'nt fair as usually the person involved cant defend themself , Their name is being splattered for all to see & invairably a load of cockknockers will jump on the bandwagon & add their shitty tuppence worth...............These sites have really gone downhimm in the last yr or so........Its a shame because at one time they were great................ nelson 0
I see what you mean about this site mate but do you not think that when people glean enough knowledge they tend to look back with a bit of an attitude. Yes there are clowns in every walk of life and doing the dirty washing in public is just an ego trip for someone trying to make a point.Conversation and debate is what is needed on any forum though, simply stating facts is well enough but the replies to topics puts meat on the bones of any subject. thurso jack 3
i called him last year when i was looking for a pup and had a nice chat with him for half an hour he seemed a really nice man and was happy to talk and give advice, he asked what type of dog i was after as his dogs were bayers nothing more and he categorically (sp) stated this a few times, he wasnt trying to make a sale for the sake of it and was honest and up front, i asked about his kc stuff and he quickly said if your going to be working the dog you dont want one of them. i didnt get a dog in the end from eddie but i wouldnt hesitate in the future going on our coversation as he seemed a genuine bloke. valerio 32
I've not criticised someone.I only asked a question as the only foxwarren dog I've seen looked too weak. I've read his book and enjoied it.If his dogs are that type it's not what I like,I like well boned dogs with a bigger head. Quote Link to post

Whats inside a head matters most to me.Ive worked dogs with heads like buckets doesnt mean jack shit Ive had many a fox despatching dogs with smaller heads.Eddie has dogs with plenty of bone and with good heads .He has all types. He does favour a baying dog but I know of quite a few that are hard bay mix dogs all from Eddies kennels. Moorman 1 1,452
Heres my Foxwarren Russell,I wouldn't call him too weak for the job. There have been a few times this past season when I had wished that he hadn't been quite so hard,as he has had to have a few months off.I also know of one hunt terrierman that sold one of Eddie's on as it was too hard for him.
