Lab 10,979
how would that be embarrassing pal ,enlighten me im in the humour for a right laugh How .....what you mean like scraping through a tie on a technicality having been beaten 3 -1 by an unknown little Swiss team with unknown players in an unknown league, probably on par with a side like Yeovil Town,is not embarrassing Although i agree with you a bit we did have 10 men for pretty much 90 minutes, our fault yes but i reckon it would have been a different story with 11 on the park. The game should never have taken place anyway.
jf1970 328
it was embarrassing being knocked out the way we did, but rules are rules and we really should make the most of it, athletico madrid are clear favourites to win the group or even win the tournament, udinesse showed against arsenal that they are no mugs and rennes, although i don't know to much about them, i;m sure they can more than hold there own. That statement in itself is a great indicator of just how far Scottish football has fallen sadly......anyway,make the most of it all clubs need some luck at some time or other and Celtic have just had their share. gnasher16 31,602
Lost me?..... My bet is there was a time Celtic would have been confident beating a side like that with 7 players let alone

My bet is there was a time Celtic would have been confident beating a side like that with 7 players let alone 10 Sorry mate but there not the local pub team. Yes there no top side, far from it but losing a man and a goal to a penalty it was an uphill battle. Not trying to make excuses for them mate and i do think its a little embarressing how we have got through but i'll take it for the money reasons...

They weren't Real Madrid/Barcelona, AC/Inter Milan or Man Utd/Arsenal either Lab.. There was a time when the old firm were genuinely (in my eyes anyway) a part of Europe's elite, feeders at the top table. I think Gnasher has a valid point in what he's saying about the declining standard of Scottish football. I can't ever remember a time where the Swiss league has been classed as one of Europe's top leagues like the Scottish one used to be..

Anyone can see that Scottish football is declining mate, its still not the best thing to hear though is it? I've not talked up this side, i know they are nothing better than a very average side but any side that plays against 10 men for 90 mins has a much greater chance of qualifing. I'd imagine you'd rate your side(Man Utd) to be far superior to Celtic at the moment...........well if we drew you in a competition and you were only allowed to field 10 players then i bet my house on Celtic beating you...... Infact you've struggled with 11.......

It just makes me sad as someone who occasionally follows Scottish football to see such a dramatic decline in the product over the last 10 years or so.

RossM 8,149
reminds me of when i was younger playing fifa 95 or whatever on the playstation with my pals, now me and one of my mates were good, really f*****g good, and whenever we played each other there was never a sure winner so whenever i knew i was gonna beat him i would half my mates goalie thus getting a man sent off, turn to my mate smirking and say"beat ye with 10 men" it used to rile him up something rotten!! nowt to do with the tims or that but the bleating on about 10 men just reminded me of those days.

Reminds me of playing FIFA 10 with my brother a few years back. He'd been caning it for weeks but I hadn't played a footie game for ages. I won a free kick just outside the box & I asked him had he ever scored from a fee kick on it. He said something like "nah man, they're solid!" I lined it up and BANG!! Beat the wall and pinged straight in off the crossbar! His face was a fecking picture!

"aye nae bother, whats the controls i asked?" he explained the basics and away we went, just before half time i was clean through on goal, battered a couple of buttons and bang 1-0 to me he was absolutely fuming, and in the second half i was up and down the wings and asking "how the f**k do i cross it?" "dinnae ken" was his reply, he was that pissed off he wouldnt tell me! sore loser or what? anyhow game finished 1-0 and now when he asks if i want a game i turn the c**t down with the reply "nah i'll keep my 100% record against ye!!
