Guest dee mac
jeez lads i dunno where ye are gettin ur diggin, its way to warm around here for diggin, at best u could pick off an early mornin here and there but be in double figures must surely mean uv been diggin for the past 2 or 3 weeks most days and if u tell me ur gettin a few digs a day must mean ur diggin well through the day in that heat, well id say ur mad, i know the season aint long enough for most of us but surely holding off another week or 2 wud hold yer terriers in better stead for the season ahead.. pa its either early morning or evening digs only had first full day last week but it was dull with a breeze so not too bad one one week we had five digs between monday and sunday all in the cool of the evening in steasy enough spots and got two young dogs dug and dug another one the following week they ll learn nought in the kennells. 1 Quote Link to post

We dug again this morn pa,out early home early, thats what we do this time of year.We are mostly working youngsters in easy places so 2 or 3 digs in a morn is not a big deal.I will usually go where there is a good amount of earths in the 1 area so no need for traveling about with dogs locked into boxs.I know all the lads in or around my area are diging this past 3 weeks or so,not that over warm early morn. fair play Fat Man, we're hard set a handy one anywhere let alone 2 or 3 in the same area.... scent 509
we have a pack of beagle crosses ourselves for foxes ,no guns just the cover dogs and lurchers. We get right sport every weekend and account for a nice few foxes with the lurchers Quote Link to post

Why would you be on the same earth all day,i know its educated game and all that but if the dog in question is up to it and dont let the quarry push it about i cant see why you are on 1 spot all day.If the terrier is geting pushed everytime you are almost through to it,then i would be asking myself is the terrier in question up to it work wise. Not knocking your dogs as i dont know you or have never seen your dogs work so cant comment on them, but i know what we dig to will hold the quarry in one spot untill dug, educated or not.We used to keep the hounds aswell one time, great crack with a few good lurchers. All the best for the season, yis fm. 1 Quote Link to post
