jmurph101 24
I recently got two young albino jills, there about 4-5 months old now, I was checking them over yesterday and found a small lump on one of there stomachs, any idea what this could be? Do they come into season this late and this young? There both playing fine with no signs of discomfort. Any advice would be much appreciated. Quote Link to post

Yeah I'm planning on taking her to the vets, just trying to find out whether it's a common problem or if anyone else has come across it. Thanks for the reply! Quote Link to post
martnmagik 68
could be a hernia or could even be where her umbilical was and hasnt gone down properly, is it red, hot and looks sore? could be any number of things mate but a vet should put you right BUT ring around and find one that deals with ferrets alot as most vets havnt a clue when it comes to ferrets. atb mart 1 Quote Link to post

Any suggestions on vets in the midlands? Thanks for the reply! Quote Link to post

If thats a definite no then is it an umbilical scar or hernia? Aha positive, there definitely both jills, I did wonder when I first got them off my mate, one was a lot more aggressive dragging the other around, but no there both jills. If it was an umbilical scar wouldn't she always if had it? Everything I've read seems to make me think it's a hernia. Thanks for the reply Quote Link to post
ferret333 750
my hobs the same , a lump like a marble , it took it too the vets and they said its just excess fat coming out its belly button Quote Link to post
ferret100 47
Visible purple colouration underneath a possible umbilical hernia? Could indicate intestines coming through the gap in the abdominal cavity. Get a vet involved asap.... Quote Link to post
jmurph101 24
So the results are in... Turns out it is a hernia, just a small one directly under her belly button, the vet said there's no need to remove it as it's not causing any discomfort, but can easily be removed without a problem. Thanks for all the replys, hope this helps if anyone else comes across this problem, the vets I found was reasonably priced for the check up as well as the Jill jab, if ever the time comes I need to use it.
