FightTheBan 1,147
We have a french guy working for us at the minute who has invited me over to France to hunt during the winter (stays in the pyrenese). Was just wondering if anyone has any experience of hunting in france, and will the trip be worthwhile. He says you can hunt boar with dogs, shoot grey partridge and dig foxes and pigs. Juust looking for some information before I go any further. Many thanks. FTB Edited August 26, 2011 by FightTheBan

skycat 6,174
That's right: tar an entire nation with a 70 year old brush Were you even alive then? I doubt it very much indeed. The French are like any other nation: good and bad and inbetween. They love their hunting, but any form of coursing is illegal, though I know one or two people who keep sighthounds over there and their dogs go out and catch stuff: as long as you keep it low key there's not a problem. The thing the French really appreciate is if someone actually bothers to learn their language: funny that, a lot of you would say the same about foreigners coming over here :hmm: so you lot might have more in common with them that you would like to admit
rob190364 2,594
I've driven right through France twice. Although apparently they do have restrictions on what you can and can't do with dogs, the countryside is vast.....and I mean proper vast! you can drive for hours without seeing anyone, so I don't really know how they'd control it. Saw quite a few wildboar, I think they're quite common. When driving back I pulled up to have a slash, walked to the side of the road and one bolted from a bush right next to me.....no.1 stop very nearly progressed to a no.2 stop in the blink of an eye! The ones I saw were quite small, probably 20 inches or so, quite lightly built and could run at a fair old rate. I reckon they'd be pretty good sport to be honest. The trip would definitely be worthwhile, the scenery is proper stunning and I reckon you'd do a fair bit. Most of the people I came across while I was there were quite friendly, every now and again you'd come across a snotty fecker who would look at you like you'd just dropped off the bottom of their shoe but you'll be used to that living in Scotland . No, in all honest I was expecting them to be British hating tw'ts but most of them were fine, no different to any other country
