Interesting topic lads, got a wooly ''saluki" here and been wondering where his coats come from.. Background to the dig was I got him off a guy at 13 weeks who was getting rid of all his dogs cause if a new job. He said he was a non kc reg saluki from the Blackpool area.. Looked bang like a saluki pup, not fussed about reg. took it on. Proper saluki temperament, makings and feathering as he grew, then at about 12months he started getting fluffy sides, now 18months and still fluffy.. Must be something else in there somewhere, also built like a brick shit house! Not slim like most salukis.. Hunts and runs like one though. Bit of a mystery but a damn good dog. Will stick a photo on tomorrow. Any thoughts? What would add a bit of build and a fluffy coat to an almost pure saluki??

My dog isn't crazy hairy, just on his sides, ankles and chest, probably twice as long as his back.. Can't be pure, I must be a dash of something in there..

A bit but with a full feathered tail, 27" tts, bout 30kgs and black and tan saluki colour, got plenty of pics, can't work out how to upload via iPhone.. Give me a few mins and I'll put one up

not tht easy to see is it a young dog ,, looks like puppy fluff ,, you may laff .. but one of the ways you can tell a pure sal is salukis dont have a undercoat they only have one layer of fur ,
