Country Joe 1,411
I know we prefer not to dig, but its a part of Ferreting, there's nothing worse than getting a stick up, then when your nearly there the rabbit moves, my question would be, as having no experience of small ferrets, can they hold on to a non bolter, or are they dragged all over the place? TOMO 29,369
the thing is, these small ferrets can kill,,, one of mine was a f****r for it, she had a nack of killing through the eye, rather than back of the neck. this last season i had a few fellas of here out with me, and another one of my little jills was dug out on many ocasions and in some very deep sand warrens. but of course they sometimes get dragged round,,, it realy depends on the warren,,, not how many holes it has,, but rather the size of the tubes undergound,, if the tubes are large,, then yes the can get dragged....... but also it depends on the rabbit,,, there all individuals, some fight more than others. now i have a few ferrets of difrent sizes, so if i think ones struggling i give it a hand just remember one thing,,, stoats are not extinct,,, think about it!!!! 1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,595
The last two permissions we got were big sandy burrows and when you broke threw to the ferret the burrows underground where huge and the rabbit was moving about i got two big hob 's and problem sorted . I dont mean the rabbits where dragging the jills all over the place but digging down 4/5 foot and you can just feel the rabbit with the tip of your fingers and the burrows sloping away from you is a pain in the butt Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
I used to like Lowther years ago, the Ferret section was quite big, and you could buy and sell, many a good worker I bought at Lowther, there were also different colours and sizes, ideal if you wanted to try something different, I see Lowther is back on today and tommorow, but I don't know if you can still buy and sell Ferrets, if anyone goes, perhaps they could let us know.
