Hi all mr archers is absolutley fine with the stinkers in my hand on my lap when I put them by his nose no atention turns his head away, when there in the box he puts his head in has a sniff even a lick , yet as soon as they hit the floor he's still geting very excited and wants to get hold of them ,? He has only had one day out with them on the leed and I was sliping him on rabbits , I will have him on the leed till Xmas I think as he is about 20 months old now , any tips apart from little and often with the ferrets on the floor cheers j ,

If the dog is showing too much interest when on the floor give the dog a good pull on the lead (not to hard) and give the command No in a stearn voice, make sure the dog gets the message that being too rough is a big No No

had his first sort of proper ferreting session today. by the 4th small set he was sat watching the holes waiting. holding bolted rabbits, maybe alittle to tightly but not to bad! he missed one when 2 bolted at once and only one went in the net, it ran down the tree line and slipped into the base of a big tree.

10 were shot, the rest were ferreted. all a decent size, never had any baby ones all day and only one small ish one.

yer mate i made sure he spent loads of time around them as he was growing up. even the older lurcher i got who wasent broken to ferrets soon learned what they were and what they were for. just spend time with the dogs and the ferrets together andlet them get used to each other.
