how long should i rest my dog 4 ?

i think my bitch has broke her toe how long should i rest her 4 ?

if you only THINK she broke her toe, get her to a vet for an expert opinion and diognosis.:thumbs:

the vet said its just knockrd up but i think it could be broke? the x-ray never showed anything broke but the vet said it could of cracked the bone from the inside ?

If your not happy with his opinion then get another, Plus likes been said try one that specialise in running dogs and take it from there,

 

 

If it is broke and theres been tendon damage ect then it will take months too heal properly, But no point guessing till you know 100% what the injury is...........

If its just a knocked toe, cut the nail right back to the quick, cage rest her for week or so and no free running exercise for a month......

mate its the blood build up that congeils and then callouses,ive heard and used that method before,but i know better now :thumbs: dont mean to sound condesending ,but thats from 2 very good greyhound specialists :thumbs: atb

That was the advice i got last December from George Drake and Tom Peppercorn, two of the most respected greyhound men when my bitch knocked a toe (not broken) :thumbs:

My Bitch Knocked her Toe up when she Was about 12mth's old.I was told to cut the Nail back to the Quick so that it Bleeds.Thereby Releasing the Pressure.She was Right in 4wks with no Callous on the Toe.
