Video camera

Recommended Posts

Hello boys, i had a borrow of a fujifilm finepix S camera yesterday to try and get some footage for si and the charity dvd, its a stills camera mainly but it does record upto an hour of quality video footage, but there is no pause button and each shot has to be made as a different video clip, also the time to turn it on and switch to video mode and start recording was to time consuming and i lost out on quite a few shots, ending up with footage of the arse end of numerous rabbits hopping into hedges!! so what are you boys using?? either for scope cam or just mounted onto the gun, cheers in advance

hi peter, this is my set up. the camcorder is a panasonic sd800.the mount i use is a seben,i mainly use it to mount the camcorder on top of my scope, but can be used for scope cam footage.for scope cam i cut a piece of 50mm drain pipe and fitted the sun shade adapter supplied with the camcorder to one end with black tape, the other end fits nicely over the end of my scope. steCIMG0081.jpg

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your efforts buddy in trying to get some good footage. I agree a good camera defo helps when filming your clips.

I am in the same mind frame as Davy and I use a Sony handycam as they are really good quality and easy to use producing some brilliant quality footage in HD.

I only got mine about 5 months ago, just a month or so before I came to Canada and have only just started using it.

Before I was using a Panasonic HD model that I gave to Tony at Christmas when he was over in Germany with me and LJ and another Sony Handycam model that a good mate of mine now has.

The Panasonic was good quality but without the night shot plus or night shot.

The unseen footage that I have shot with my new one back home on my desk top pc is real good and will be used in The Rise of the Verminators.

My model is the dcr-sr35e HD model also with super night shot plus which is real handy for night time filming if used in conjunction with an i.r illuminator.

I got mine off EBay for £116 and it still came with the guarantee. It had never been used and belonged to an old lady who bought it to film her family gatherings and her young grandson or daughter had played about with the settings and managed to put it in to Danish language so she couldn’t understand it and sold it cheap to Cash Converters who then sold it for £116 to me on EBay.

Luckily for me I had had a Sony HandyCam a little while after Christmas but a different model and new where the language settings were without having to read where I needed to go so within 10 minutes I had it back in English.

Here is my model

Battery wise I have a 10 hour battery and a standard battery.

So battery power is never a problem.

I also now use a Casio Exilim EX – FC100 for day time use which is a 9.1 million MP HD stills camera with HD video and high speed filming (not HD slow motion but real good) at 210 fps (best) for slow motion footage. (Don’t use anything faster than 210 fps or you loose quality massively).

Have a read of these reviews; this is my, Davy and Andy’s exact model.

Hi Peter,

Yeah the Sony HandyCam would be a real good choice.

I would definitely go the EBay way though as you can get some real good deals on there.

Here is a very good deal and the same model as my new one

Yes mate i got it pretty cheap to what it should be.

I paid £61 with postage but they have just gone up to around £82 i think. This price is still tonnes cheaper than you will get in the UK.
