k9delboy 138
wasnt the coon hunting i was hoping for when i opened the thread NOW NOW Scothunter. I have a rake of coyote hunting pics too but think i will keep them for another night. Good to have a wee change and share experiences with folk that may not have had the chance. Oh and as i said to cu beag, I am going out in Feb next year with my son for the 19th time in 11 years to hunt coons, coyote, hopefully to see bird dogs in action and also to do a bit of game fishing, stay at hunt kennels etc and generally enjoy life if anyone wants to tag along we could probly make room for another. Always good to help a fellow hunter if possible. Give us a ring and if we get on then why not go for it. AN OFFER NOT TO BE REFUSED EH Del.

gnasher16 31,602
Great thread this thanks for sharing your experiences Mr k9delboy I spent some time tagging along on a few Coyote hunts around Iowa and Nebraska in the early ,s they were using big Staghounds and Black Mountain Curs it was all new to me i remember one of the fellas used to raise feeder rabbits, very often what i thought was Coyotes turned out to be a pack of Wolves .. ...Coyotes are very territorial and will do their best to chase off anything smaller or their own size, many times you could almost hear their brain going into fight or flight mode....they was interesting days for a young dope like me off an East London council estate Edited June 20, 2011 by gnasher16

lurchergrrl 1,441
Raccoons are indeed very clever beasties, we had plenty where I lived. I came across a couple out in Vaouncouver once that were bigger than an average dog. They wouldn't let me pass them in the garden - I'd take a step, they'd take a step In the end I went back through the house and out the front door They can break into just about anything including houses, very deft with their paws. Got to be careful around them tho, a lot carry rabies. Cool thread Del Lucky you! Coon hounds, blue ticks etc, I've known them but never seen them in action. Maybe someday ...
