shotgun cartridges

Recommended Posts

I have found Express 42g 1's one of the best loads i've used for fox. being 1 shot theres alot more shot than a BB load and it has a nice pattern. I use a 3/4 choke when shooting foxes and i've shot them stone dead out to 40yds with this load.

I use the victory mini mags 3's & 4's when i go to scotland goose shooting and there a fine cartridge too

Hia mate, my uncle uses these loads (Gamebore Mammoth) in his Remington pump action. We patterned the shot and found that at about 50Yards its was OK, not saying it was brilliant but should do the job.

We did shoot a milk carton filled with water at 4 and it ruined it.

no, I think you could hold off a small army with a box of those" I guse Lyalvale or Gamebore 3" 50gm BB does a fantastic job out t0 40m even with 1/4 choke I did a test (LINK) HERE a while ago, so I concluded that you should use the minimum load your gun can shoot, really BB and above, and as heavy a charge of shot as you shoulder can take, you owe it to your quarry.

I have used them. I found them to be similar to the 50gm 3's. I dont rate them for distance, and I first thought they were steel shot as they did not carry as well as I thought they should.

I really like the Solway 50gm BB shot for foxes. This is my preferred cartridge now. The mammoth 63gm is reserved for the first 'scattergun' shot into a flock of pigeons during harvest, you get three or four for your shot.
