sam-jones69 0
hi. I had my shotgun interview last friday all is good and I'm just waiting for my licence now. I was just wondering what barrel length I should get. I have asked a few people and they say that I should get a min of 30 inches for rough shooting but i have seen alot of nice guns with 28 inch barrels, is there realy much difference? cheers. Denny essex 15
Ita more a matter of what fits and feels good to you rather than barrel length, some barrel lengths are a little more preferable for different forms of shooting but to shoot any gun well it needs to feel right for you, come to the mount correctly and a good fit. tillylamp 1,899
hi mate, i personally dont like 30inch barrels,i find them a little to long,i prefer 26 to 28inch barrels myself, when im out amounst the trees and shrubs i find the 26-28inch just right, where as the 30inch barrels in the same situation would be a night mare. thanks tl Quote Link to post

Ratsmasher 36
I t also depends on what kind of shooting you do, if it is clays and driven etc then Most say the longest lenght that you can handle, because you have more 'pointability' so you are more accurate (just what I have been told as i was in your situation last year) but if you are in a hide decoying or roost shooting with twigs and vines and stuff that will get in the way then you want a shorter barrel. having said that I shoot with a 28" and a 26" and cant tell the difference when I shoot so its personal preference really Quote Link to post

Ballisticly (is that a word) there is no difference between a 24 and 34 inch barreled gun with the same choke as the great Gough Thomas would tell you. It's all about the balance and what suits you Quote Link to post
