Nay lad, There are many times in our lives when one is conscious that the abilities associated with youth are things of the past, a time when climbing a high wavering Elm to check out the contents of a rooks nest or to leap over a flooded singing burn become sad impossibilities. But, there is a time too in old age when youthful zest seems to return, a personal time when we sit and contemplate past achievements or what was said and what was enjoyed. My body may now show many signs of waning life, but youth remains in my heart and soul to gladden me when growing old touches me with sluggish fingers. Your dad probably thought he was passing on good advice from his lifes lessons just like you are going to do. Sometimes we want to learn ourselves and until you run the course, you don't understand what sound advice our parents tried to pass on.
