Strong Stuff 2,171
In the light of all that's gone on ............... I'd say it would be a foolish man who sent any money, by any method anywhere to someone they didn't know for something as valuable as a rifle. Personally speaking, I would only deal face to face, if it was too far away then I'd wait until there was one closer.

secretagentmole 1,701
The best way to buy an airgun is face to face, that way you can make sure it is as described, works and is the right gun for you. I have sold guns and sent them by the post office and had one scamming son of a female dog try to claim that a 3 month old gun which had been stored in a Flambeau case which had the special hydroscopic foam in was rusty. He soon backed down when we demanded photos and told him we had taken photos of every part of that gun that we could see without dismantling it so did he want to try pulling the other one to see what noise it made other than "Feck off moron!". Face to face is the best way, cash is king, no paypal deductions or bank fees transfer fees. If it is a long way from you, pack a picnic, make it a day out, after all it is your gun you are buying, make a day of it! Treat it as a holiday! Have some fun! Do not view it as just going to get the gun. That makes it more bearable. Use sites like guntrader, gun star, ad trader, ebuygun etc to find what youa re looking for. Find the best sounding ones and then go for it. My wife has just bought a Daystate Huntsman Classic, shrouded barrel, in .177 with the thumbhole stock, it was in Winchester. So we had a morning in Winchester, saw the cathedral, left got the gun, came home via the M25, stopped off to pick up a sight which she had spotted on fleabay (Hawke 3-x50 Map Pro AO scope £42). Then we came home, saving on the sight alone paid for the diesel, the gun was the only one she could find, so that is what we went for and had a day out of it! j j m 6,626
ive done a few deals on here buying and selling you have to have trust ,yes theres the odd bad egg but most are honest and reliable people,we shouldnt treat every one as thieves i think
lksopener 105
Most guys are fine but question if they are reliable if you are sending a decent amount of cash! I would look to get there adress, telephone number and ask someone who they have previously sold to if it was for what you consider a large amount me possibly >£100. As stated the face to face is best. Generally though most guys are good its a few rotten apples that spoil it for the majority! Liam
j j m 6,626
heres trust for you chaps ,bought a gun off redial aka phil off here,he sent the gun before the cheque had arrived at his house ,i got the gun but he didnt recive my cheque we kept in contact through the deal,i told him id sent the cheque and couldnt understand why he didnt get it ,we talked about it i sent him another cheque,my point is dont just jump in and think you have been ripped off talk before accusing some one ,some times the post gets it wrong which is the case here me and phil trusted each other and it worked out fine for uss, there is some people that set out to rob people its a way of life for these people
SEAN3513 7
its a case of buyer beware !!!!!!!! if you have to do the deal by post....use PAYPAL.........and DO NOT send as a gift payment (you lose your rights to claim if you do ) but, if possible, always deal face to face and remember....if its too good to be true.....it probably is !!!!! secretagentmole 1,701
Sean, Paypal does not cover firearms, so make sure you mark the transaction as "Machined Parts". That way you may still be covered. If the seller tells Paypal that it was for an air rifle you could still be in the mire, this actually also covers air rifle ammo! However lamps and scopes are covered (damned strange, but scopes are optics and can be used on various things and lamps are well, illuminating)! The only way you would be able to get round paying by Paypal is to link your Paypal to your credit card and pay via Paypal on the credit card! As the credit card people would be charged over the £100 or whatever they will have to refund you and then seller beware! Edited May 7, 2011 by secretagentmole
NewBarnFerrets 3
I've bought & sold a couple of items via this site....normally face 2 face & to date with no problems.....in fact bought something only this week...& yes it arrived safe & sound..... there are honest members out there But in all honesty I am a face to face deal person, that way you can't be caught out by a sellers description If doing a deal via post my rule is never send more money than I am prepared to loose Hope that helps
