Alex Arrigone 24 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 about a week ago me and my friend were at our local pigeon shooting permission. we had been stalking some pigeons and had ventured under some relatively low electrical pylons. about 20m in height. i had my rifle barrel resting on my shoulder, muzzle in the air as we walked underneath it. i soon felt a sting (about the strength of touching a farm perimiter fence wire to keep horses in) on my shoulder/neck. sureley this shouldnt happen? can electicity jump that far? anyway, beware of walking underneath them with your rifles in the air ! atb alex Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,584 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Share Posted April 25, 2011 Wouldn't this be something like Golfers getting struck by lightning; as electricity acts on metal like a conduit to earth; like your rifle barrel or a golf club? I'm no expert on electricity, but, it seems the stuff will leap at anything that will conduct it? Quote Link to post
