question lurcher or whirrier

a whirrier is generally classed as a short legged terrier used in the cross ie russel, border, lakeland etc the leggier breeds such as the bedlington and airedale are classed as lurchers.

Good question ! I tend to agree with Socks; I've allways thought of Beddy/Staffy/APBT crosses as "Lurchers" and JRT/Patt/Fell/Border/Lakie crosses as "Wirriers; but I'm sure both terms could be used for ALL types of Terrier/Whippet crosses ! :thumbs:

PS, I don't think the name "Whirrier" is new; I've heard it used for at least 40 years.
