Ideation 8,217
This year i have decided to breed my best and oldest jill, in order to keep back a kit or two myself to preserve the line, and to give a couple of new ferreters a decent first team. Thing is i have had her jabbed in the past to take her out of season. Anyone ever had any problems breeding from a jill thats been having the jab? Odd question i know, but this jill is worth more to me than. . . . . .well most things. . . . . but i'd also be gutted if i could not continue the line. Quote Link to post
ryangolding 4
good question! im in the same boat, ive a jill that is the best worker ive had in all the years ive kept them, would be a total waste if i couldnt keep her blood line going because of using the jab. Quote Link to post
The one 8,598
I was thinking about that as well ,as somebody got there bitch jabbed and it really mucked up her seasons big time dont know if its the same stuff though ?. And somebody got there bitch jabbed after she got caught and she didn't abort all of the pups and had a couple of mutants Think thats why i stick to my sni[pped hob for my ferrets Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Jai I found this on the noah compendium .. it dont look like like its a problem Jills Oestrus control Delvosteron can be used to suppress or postpone heat in jills during the breeding season usually March to September. Following injection in jills showing prolonged oestrus (suppression) the signs will usually abate within 10–11 days. Injections given just before the onset of the breeding season (postponement) or during the breeding season (suppression or postponement) will usually maintain the jill in anoestrus for the remainder of the breeding season. Irishmac 5
There will be no problem breeding your jills, the jill-jab will take them off season for that year (ususlly, have had a few come on again just at the end of the breeding season), they seem to be a wee bit tender around the injection area, to be expected, but they come on again next year and are good to go. Have had no problem getting kits from a jill I jagged the year before. Have a cranky stinking hob here, f*****g really bad tempered at the moment, he is lucky I don't have a spare £50 of he would loose his tackle !! Quote Link to post
NewBarnFerrets 3
I took my Jills to have the jab last year. The vet seemed very reluctant to handle them & asked me to hold them. The girls took their injections well, HOWEVER while doing the last injection the vet accidently injected himself He did laugh & said "Oh well at least I won't come into season" Quote Link to post
