mattydski 560
Firstly.........Everytime i go camping in Spring or Autumn, the weather turns and its guaranteed to be cold.... I feel the cold anyhow, and I read tonight that us "over 35's" should add 5 degrees to the comfort rating of a sleeping bag, when purchasing.. So, that explains a lot Anyhow, I am looking for a decent sleeping bag, under a ton, suitable for a cold boy like me... I prefer green, olive type colourings..... so I am thinking on looking at a carp fishing type sleeping bag.. I dont like sleeping in clothes, so it needs to be comfortable, however, I have had bags that I have sweated like a rapist in Any personal recommendations please? Cheers Matty

matt_hooks 188
Agreed you need a "slug". Any good army surplus store should stock them. Built in waterproof "groundsheet" and feather filled, snuggliest sleeping bags out there, and not usually too expensive either. I left mine in a cupboard on an RAF base when I was training there, proper pi##ed me off that did!

redeye jedi 39
Army doss bags are good for the cold but dam they are bulky. get yourself a softie sleeping bag, nice and light compress to a real small size and keep you warm go for a No9 or above. ive got 3 of them. blan89 159
yeah the issued bouncing bomb's the way to go,get a bivvi bag too if you can,it keeps you warmer, waterproof and if it gets too hot (which in summer it probably will) youve got a spare light-weight sleeping bag
PeakOil 352
I got a Trakker big snooze and peachskin cover for £40 off a fishing forum. Was fine in it last winter with the temp dropping down to -10 to -15 at night.
miller 18
58 Pattern ex Army sleeping bag is what you should ask for, some of the older ex service men will remember this pattern of webbing etc.
WILF 51,112
58 Pattern ex Army sleeping bag is what you should ask for, some of the older ex service men will remember this pattern of webbing etc. No offence Miller but I have used both and the modern fishing bags piss all over the army type but they are too warm in the summer........mostly in summer all you need is a waterproof fleece cover with the bag underneath you, will keep you toasty and you wont sweat like a rapist! May invest in one before My next Hebrides trip in April Ive just donated my last attempt to the kids for their holiday next week..... (thy're a lot younger than me, so can tolerate the cold better) A little bit more research........and...............bingo
Guest chook
Best thing i ever bought was a sleeping bag fleece liner last time we went camping in October, i ended up putting the sleeping bag away, the liner was enough.
