OldNog 432
Cheers guys. I thought you had to have a medical before you could get carded? Bogger, only getting carded now because our 2 home shows are toward the end of the season and for first bouts the club likes to try and get them on the line up on the home shows for the extra support

Bogger 243
makes sense mate be better with support gives you more confidence and ive never heard of people getting checked on the night i always though you need medical and card to get matched up atb anyway pal let us know how you get on hope you do better than i did in my opener lol
Plong 21
You do, I don't know any clubs that will line up a fight for an uncarded fighter, as you cannot be registerd with the ABA until you have your card. Like Bogger said though you may as well wait until Sept and get it done then. Edited March 4, 2011 by Plong

zigzag dan 784
My lad boxes , you can fight uncarded on an exhibition show like clubs put on to raise funds but for proper contests you need carding , his club gets a doc down preseason and he does a few in one visit . gonetoearth 5,144
olddog you can get a full med on a show night but you will not get your med card till all paper work is done , it all depend on the doc , as to having your first bout on a home show it all depends on the individual some kids thrive on it some don't , took many lads away so they never had the pressure but all ways made sure the were not boxing one of the home clubs lads try for a visiting boxer so the crowd was neutral , get your card sorted then your ready for next season and good luck no finer sport than ABA boxing , Edited March 4, 2011 by gonetoearth
OldNog 432
cheers guys. whether i get a bout before the season doesnt really matter. At the end of the day if i dont, it gives me longer to train. I am ready now but having longer will only make me better. One of the guys at the club recently become the ABA national champ and i have been sparring with him and have done very well

Been training just over 18months now i guess. Im weighing 84kg at the moment which is heavier than when i first started but i feel good at this weight, not that it really matters in a non-competition bout
