rabbits running through ditches

went out ferreting yesterday and had long nets set up on the 2 sides of a hedge and all the rabbits my ferret bolted wer running inside the hedge why is this happening as it keeps happening when i ferret hedges :hmm: :hmm:

they are moving up the hedge to seek safety in the next warren rather than running for the open field,you want some stop nets/poke nets through the hedge possibly.also i would be netting up a lot further down the hedge line than just the first warren i was working

Spot on. If a rabbit has a run through cover it'll use it over one into the open every time. They can fecking shift through the cover too when pressed!

Spot on watchman and malt very few rabbits will leave the cover that a hedge gives them IMHO 4x25yds nets through the hedge will catch you far more than a 100yds net set parralel to the hedge

Aye you should have cut the hedge up into more manageable sections ,i find about twenty five yards is a good sized bit of hedge or ditch to be running up and down for bolting rabbits
