can depend on the dogs method of dispatch as to weather it carries a lot of scars or not,iv had lurchers in the past that have dealt with foxes swiftly and cleanly sustaining minimal damage others iv had have been fighters and seemed to enjoy the ruck until they had enough of f*****g about then killing like it should of been done in the first place resulting in a face full of unneccesary scars,my theory as said"never judge a book by its cover"seeing for yourself is the proof in the pudding not idle bullshit chat from those that brag to others they got a good dog because its got a couple scars, could have been caused by a barbed wire fence for all we know because lets face it if you dont know the lads then your none the wiser are you

iv also had dogs that carried a face full of scars and heard the comments made about them by others as to it doing its job only for them to spew after a couple seasons just goes to show dont mean anything really does it

i agree with most whats been said if you were thinking of buying a dog [singlehanded] and you were looking at picture before you bought and the dog did,nt have a mark on it ,people would think different ,seen it loads of time on the thl

Agree with what your saying in principal.

Although even the best workers and softest will get marks if they are doing there job right and doing lots of it.

A dog with no marks that is claimed to be a hero. I would be dubious of.

I will always reserve judgement untill I see the dog graft in person.

Hate nothing more than people posting a picture and then someone commenting along the lines of 'see its a cracking worker' etc just because it has a couple of chibs. It means f**k all.

agree totaly, a good dog is like a good boxer, never gets hit but destroys everything in it's path. and scars mean fu ck all, heard of some terrier men not far from were i live, giving terriers they were trying to sell a tin of dog food with just a little bit of food at the bottom of the tin after starving them for a couple of days, so the dogs would rip there faces open trying to get it out.

thats a fact.

seen a fella do that 2 years ago with a can of corn beef

just so he could get a few extra euros for the dog.

the poor dog was cut to bits.

i was sickened.

tolod him what i thought of him and walked out of yard.

never went back or spoke to him since.

i'm pretty sure if i saw somebody do it then i would be doing more than telling him what i thought before i walked out of his yard

fair play to you

:censored::censored::censored: like that need a right good kicking and not just the once

if i knew somecnut that done that then they would get a kicking everytime i saw them

the stunts that some folk do to get a potlicker sold :wallbash:

i'd rather give a dog to a wee old woman for a pet or pts rather than have the bad name of selling shite for any doller

you can sell 100 good dogs but as soon as you sell 1 pile of shite potlicker then your name is as good as dead to any decent dogman

Just like anything else, people lie and others doubt. You dont need a face full of scars to prove its a worker, thats just to make you feel tough. But on the same hand, i'd be scepticle of a dog that someone was saying had dispatched a large number of quarry that could bite back and had never taken a scratch.

The worst scars my dogs have had have came from chasing rabbits, nothing hard in that. Dog nearly ripped it's jaw off chasing a rabbit through a sheep fence. Must admit, I don't think I know a dog that gets worked regular that doesn't have scars so I suppose there is something in it.
