Shortest barrel length?

Recommended Posts

Personally I wouldnt go for less than 26" (fairly standard for skeet guns)

I had a 25" side by side years ago great to carry and very light just dont like s/s so got rid and got a 28" Winchester 101 Lightweight.

Again personally I wouldnt go down the route of cutting down your 32" barrels as has been said you will / may lose all choke depending on what you lop off.

You then have to see if it is possible to get it threaded to take multichokes!

To me your best option is to part ex the 32" for a good 'field' gun with shorter barrels and multichokes.

If it's for woods work and ranges are short you may prefer not having choke anyway, so cut it down yourself. Apart from th 24" minimum, I cant remember if there is an overall length minimum - but I think thats for rifles for which the barrel limit is 12" if I remember right. Found it here: http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/d_to_g/firearms/ search by doing ctrl-f for the word 'lenght'

Can you do that? Or is it stupidly hard metal to cut?

I'm guessing it could be done because of all these criminals with 'sawn offs'

24 and a quarter is the legal minimum length for a shot gun not 24 inch.
