Luna out of action

Recommended Posts

Went out for a mooch last night. Luna caught a rabbit but as she was bringing it back noticed she was limping badly.

Got her home and shes cut the back of her front leg around the ankle area. Cleaned it up as best I could although she was in pain when I was cleaning it and stayed with her for a few hours in the house before putting her out.

Got her out this morning and she's keeping it up obviously but whats concernin me is that its still bleeding - not pissing with blood but a slow steady flow - going to vets this afternoon - hope its nowt too serious!

Think she'll be out of action for a bit though.

Thanks for the replies lads.

Just got her back from the vets. 4 stitches - shes asleep on sofa now - she's still not with it properly. Quite a gash, about 2"wide, 1" high so it had opened right up - couldn't see that last night for all the blood and she wouldn't let me near it.

Hopefully because she's had the stitches it won't keep opening up - but its worrying because its by the tendons/ligamnets - anyone got any similar experiences and did your dog recover ok?

Rory4 she is 2 years old - 1/2 greyhound, 1/4 deerhound, 1/4 bull. 26tts and 50lb.

Scalestails - glad to hear yours is ok - sure you've got your dogs welfare at heart - can't imagine anyone not having it.

Normally, I just keep cuts clean and leave them to heal but because of where this was and is looked pretty nasty, thought it was best to get her seen to - the vet charged £57, which was less than I was expecting TBH. Vet said best to get it stitched as if left to heal on its own it would always be likely to open up there when running - how much of that is true I don't know. :icon_redface:

Beauty of my vet is shes from Lithuania originally and worked dogs herself over there - so she doesn't judge you when you go in with them like some vets do!:whistling:
