Deerhound

Recommended Posts

There seems to be alot of talk on here about deerhounds lately, are they becoming the new "must have"? I know they have been used in lurcher breeding for a very long time and are capable dogs but as I say there just seems alot of interest in them at the minute

Why not ? They were used in Lurcher breeding long before the Bull X's and Saluki hybrids came allong ;

I know they were, there just seems to be alot of interest in them. I'm not knocking them, just wanting to know why the sudden rush of deerhound posts?

i dont think theyr has been a sudden rush, as the 2 litters i know of that are on the deck at the moment,

have been waited on for a long time now :thumbs:

But surely thats because they're waiting for the right breeding and not just any two dogs put together? Just looking through the last 6 or 7 pages there is quite a bit of deerhound talk where as 3 or 4 months ago there was nothing. It's only an observation and I've got nothing against the breed what so ever :thumbs:

And I'm not knocking Bull or Saluki X;s; Never had a Bull X, but have seen some good 'uns ! I've had pure and X Salukis, some good, some not so good ! LOL! But breeds come into fashion and out of fashion to some folk ! But some people just keep to the cross they know and trust; be it Collie X, Deer X, or whatever,. Don't go with the new fad..... stick with what does the job for you :thumbs:

Young lads seem to follow the latest must have lurcher,i like to think that once theyve cut their teeth on the "must have lurcher" they realise they need something a little more versatile and go to the old type tried and tested lurchers.
