Time Management

Recommended Posts

bit of advice please, from you professional moleys out there!!

Time management... what does your day consist of!! how many traps can/do you lay in a day. If you have a couple of farms on the go, how do you go about it, to keep them all happy at the same time ??

first come first sevre, but if you are doing moles all the time you should have at least 150 traps going, you can do 300 traps a day easy if the travelling aint too bad, unless its cold then the fingers dont allow you to do that many, if another job only requires say 5-8 traps then next time your on a farm you can afford to take some of that land and moved to the new job.

300 traps in one day  how many do you lay around a given set of molehills ?? how long do you leave them down for?

I'm confused now... "should have 150 traps going" but you can do "300 in a day" what you do for the other half of the day?? :whistling:

Anyway, what I'm getting at is... erm!! lay the traps, that's what takes the time, lifting them, (if sucessful) is much quicker... is it worth laying say 150 on one farm, 150 on the other.. then spend the next day lifting both lots.. this way you'd have your foot in the door of both farms... given travel between the two is not that great a distance??

i used to set mon , tues, wed , on thurs i take up what i set on mon and tues and on friday take up those i set on wed, didn,t leave any set over the weekend cos to many nosey people about, it wasn,t unusual to have 600-700 traps set by wednesday on good ground with plenty of moles

i had 100+ farms to do thru winter and spring and i just turned up when i got there, the farmers knew i would get to them at some point, good weather did higher hill farms , shit weather did lower lying farms

:notworthy: Wish I had that much work to do, only got 5 farms to do so far this year, hopefully more on the way... I work nights as well, so only got a small window to lay traps, I say small, start work at 4.00pm then work til 2.00am..

some of my new farms are local so have made a start on them, then I've got two which are over 40 mins away, managed to get 80 traps down and lifted 19 the next day, then realised I didn't have enough time to lay them again, so in effect I had the traps in the back of the van not earning me any coin.. and costing me travel to go back and lay them knowing I wasn't catching any.. I'm guessing I need another 100 200 traps..

anyone else want to share how they do it !!

we normal set 100 - 150 a day, 4 days a week, check a few laid on the site a week ago and pull the rest that have been set for 2 weeks, then 1 day setting and lifting odds and ends

why on earth would you leave the traps down for two weeks ????????????

thats alot of time and effort how do you charge atb

visit each site once a week, set one week, check the next, then ether set again (depending on catch) or lift we charge per mole

how do therest of you charge?

Again, why would you leave traps down for a fortnight ?? how many traps do you have on the go ?
