The one 8,597
We went out today had Izzat lad ,Dogger my son and i , took them to a bit a wee bit away and just before we got there a fox crosses the road and looks back at us about fifeteen yards into a field im thinking is this a omen . As we drew up about six rabbits piled into the first burrow so i asked Dogger to get me six out of it . We had a great laugh and did about half the permission and went and had a brew .After the pit stop we split into twos and started at each end of a fence to meet in the middle going to the far end my lurcher coursed a rabbit into a small mound three nets down and ferret in then i had a small dig of over a foot to get the rabbit my only dig of the day . Then we did a pile of branches we could only net up to hole and put a few nets on runs threw the branches what happens we netted the first rabbit then two bolted at its back we meet up again dogger and Izzat Lad had a ferret stuck at seven foot so me and dogger had a walk over the other half of the permission as the lady was moaning we never go there . Once we got to her other fields there where a few rabbits sitting out but they bolted under a fence into a row of houses back gardens and it looked like they where going under a row of garages ? ,so we walked up a fence line by the main road and it looked like the verdge was a massive rabbit burrow right up the side of the road i dont think they will be going under the road as the hardcore etc would stop them??. Need to have a think about these rabbits as theres a few and with houses overlooking them fenn traps or snares might no be a option . By the time we got back the youngsters had the ferret out and we called it a day for fifteen i had a great day with like minded folk and a few rabbits are a welcome bonus Im no sure Izzat Lad will be coming out with me again as he says the only time he has digs like that are out with me :laugh:the first time he was up a hill at 6pm on a winters night the ferrets five foot down and it was his first time with a mk3 he had a quick learning curve Edited January 23, 2011 by The one Quote Link to post
