I tried them once ,couldn't find anything more suitable at the time.

I think they're just too rigid and broke quite easily, fibre glass or carbon fibre gets my vote every time

I used them For years and they did a job , and as said a few burst and when your leaning over pushing them in it got scarey but they didnt look the part and gradually i moved over to fibre glass poles

You can pick up fibre glass for about £2.50 to £3 each if you look around

I think Liam Brinded was doing them for around £2.25+p&p

Problem is once you've bought them they last for ever and I've lost touch with prices

I bought enough for my three nets and it was nearly a mortage payment but there great neever had a problem and as you say they should last for ever .

i have some fibreglass ones but prefere to use hazel unless its a quickset then i use the fibreglass ones

ithe last hazel ones i had them for 6 year but the misses threw them out supposedly by accident

if cost is the issue then hazel will do you fine and its free it will also be stronger than a softwood dowel..

We use dowel with no problems, to keep the net in place we use gromets from electrical back box's this enables you to move the net up or down when required. If you want fibre glass then why not use the thick tent poles very cheap option and have metal ends that you could form into a point.HOPE THIS HELPS.if you need a pic i could sort you one out or you could have a look for yourself, how far from stockton are you.
