19powell90 89
hey all, Me and my mate were down at our local permission 2day doing a spot of shooting. ( targets, squirrels pigeons etc. ) and we know there are rabbits there as we have seen tracks, poop, burrows etc. We have been here many times but never waited for rabbits. So as it went dark we got into the field about 40-50 yards away from hedges where the burrows are and got into prone position and waited. 20 mins later 3 bunnies came popping out the bushes we watched them as they bobbed around and went elsewhere. so the reason why im posting here is because 2moro or soon we are goin to go out agen and hopefully bag some bunnies and i was looking for any advice on shooting rabbits e.g. kill zone area & size, bait? etc. thanks scott Quote Link to post

Marksman 934
HI Scott This is by no means meant as offensive, but Myself and no doubt some others on here would advise you to do some research about your live quarry before you go out and shoot it, also that you can achieve a decent, consistent group at your specified zero range. eg Constantly hit ALL shots within a 1" killzone on paper I dont know the actual extent of your shooting ability, hence why I started with the basics, but if I'm teaching you to suck eggs I apologise. I also appreciate you posting that you are after advice but unless you know the killzone on ANY living quarry(normally the brain by the way ) then any shot at a living creature would be deemed inappropriate. Like I said mate this is in no way meant as an offensive comment just some friendly advice before the "unhumane police" start breathing down your neck Good luck with your hunting and dont hesitate to ask for advice should you need it in the future Darryl 1 Quote Link to post

I have been shooting at my permission for a couple of months now and can consistently hit 1" targets at multiple ranges. I mentioned earlier that when we waited fot the rabbits we did not shoot as i wasnt 100% about the kill zone and distance But today we have been out and measured the distance of there normal spots. I have humanely shot squirrels, crows etc. As i knew a head shot would take them down in one, but rabbits have a larger head so i wanted to know where the brain was. Thanks for looking out though Scott 1 Quote Link to post

lee8375dogs 9
Listen mate a head shot is best but if your not 100% sure on a head shot then another kill zone which is affective at about 25-30 yards with a full power airgun is middle of the shoulder this is the way into the engine (heart) i have shot hundreds like this you actually smash through the shoulder into the chest witch drops them hard your decission though but it sounds like you havent shot rabbits before then you can gets bucks fever remember take your time Quote Link to post
dc5 0
If you`ve not shot rabbits before then you`ve probably not gutted them before either I`d go on youtube and watch a few videos so that you know what to do with your kill jase. Quote Link to post
