It aint a case of wether a dog would die trying it's wether it will do it's job and in my experience a gsd is a good dog for the job. You go on about old pit dogs but lets face it, a good number of diferent breed of dogs will easy stop a man and more than likey a bullet is the only thing to stop a dog with no intentions of stopping. You see it on these tv programs where a nutcase dog wont stop attacking even after taking bullets

i can only coment on my german shep bitch and of course theres more hardy dogs but as a guard dog and loyalty she is top notch An yeah, a loyal dog, trained right wont take nothin lying down and i'm sure they be [bANNED TEXT] on here with a jack russel whom can prove this

you cant beat a large collie for a guard dog there more intelligent than your average rot /ali ive been on enough farms to say they can keep you were they want you should there be know one about there almost human anyway thats what id have

i just lost my akita x rottie bitch at nine years old to cancer and never had a better gaurd and i had a fair few pure rotties too! she would only bark when something was there and when offf the property was soft as shit so no worries about her gettin loose and doing any damage! but to be fair my old deerhound x grey did the job too even my brother couldnt get over the back fence when the gate was locked without getting snarled at and he worked her with me many times!

I agree, all the staffs i have known will give it the mouth but they do so with a wagging tail, unless they are unstable, badly bred dogs, in which case they are ticking time bombs

my birds mate has a Rhodesian Ridgeback witch is very good guard dog, its bloody mental but i serrpose any dog what was used to fight lions has got to be.

fight lions,they used 10 dogs to 1 lion and still they dnt kill it

 

The Rhodesian Ridgeback was not bred to attack lions - a dog which attacked a lion would be a dead dog very quickly! The breed were developed to hold a lion at bay until the hunters could shoot it. They were also used to hunt other game and to protect the homesteads. A Ridgeback should not be "mental" - it has either been badly bred or badly reared if it is, or a combination of the two. I have a houseful of RRs and they let me know when people are about but they aren't unnecessarily noisy like some breeds. They are not suited to being an outside dog - they don't have the coat or the mentality for it.
