Daystate Air Ranger

Recommended Posts

nice gun ive had one but id go for a rapid7 more reliable and better consitancy, the daystate seems to go through o rings on the inlet valve were you fill up mine went twice here first thought it was the valve itself were you top up air so bought the valve to find out it was o ring didnt last long either before replace, never had a problem with rapid, and daystate felt a bit heavier when carrying over distance,,the magazine though is alot better than rapids,so long as you look after them and dont get any dust/bits in the they last,,the daystate was a better balanced gun also,,,still prefer rapid7 though.......give you something to think about :gunsmilie:

Must say I have never had a problem with my Ranger eating 0 rings, its been a good stable rifle and very well made, like all these unregulated guns it has a sweetspot but when you're in it its 100% Pellet on Pellet.

Mine is in .177 and acounted for a good few head seen I owned it, I certainly could have done alot better but don't get out as much as some of the hardcore lads on the here. all I can say is if I was going to buy another Daystate it would be another Air Ranger! I'm not into all these fandango electric triggers and other electronics fitted in the wolf, I Ranger has a lovely sweet trigger good enough for me.

im not pulling gun down its a cracking gun both daystate and theobun raps.they both had plus and negs, and it was quite a hard descition which to keep i really liked the mag on the air ranger and balance was good, the rapids mags arent that good and mine being one of the early models with large air capacity feels front heavy and off balance to me,it was in .177 aswell the air ranger,,,but down at gun club rifle range out of the guns nothing was more accurate than the logun dominator in .22 which i was really shocked with,, at 35 yrds it would group pellet on pellet daystate second and rapid 3rd, but for me its the rapid that holds the hunting gun title :thumbs:in air guns

I have to say PSM this Air Ranger shoots nice when its in its "sweetspot" but until its hits there it can be a bit inconsistant, I'm toying with the idea of having on of the Tench Regulators fitted or fit one myself to iron out any power curves but I'm yet to make my mind up.

the other thing I could moan about with the gun is its bloody weight, its weighing around 10.5Lbs kitted out and a fair lump to shoot freehand regular! expecially when shooting the tree rats on the move which mean I'm forever shouldering the gun before I can get a clean shot.

a lad I knew a few years back had a MK1 Rapid 17 fitted with a Gary Kane laminated stock, it was a peach to look at and shot sweet but was also pretty heavy, back then I had a Falcon Raptor Skeleton stock in .177! although I wasn't keen on the gun it shot lovely and accurate and boy was it light, the only problem was I was getting around 60's shots per charge.

I can't help thinking when we pay all this money for these guns they should'nt have the power swings until they hit the so called "sweetspot", the Manufacturers tell us what we will get in full power shots but they never tell us virtually only half of them are going to be bang on :hmm:, its silly that a clever guy like Tench has had the know how to provide after market Regulators to compensate for this problem which shouldn't have been there in the first place .

jasper you should of bought an early ranger with a reg

Did they regulate the early models Samuri? Must say over the last few months I have been tempted to get the gun regulated but put it off lately as I don;t use it much.

for the life of me I can't undertsand why they removed a regulator in favour of a Harper valve system which is none regulated :hmm:....
