A whole new world to me!

Recommended Posts

Tried the following last night:

T shirt in with him

Chew toy

Radio on

Sheet over his crate

Fed before bed.

He did 5 hours from about 10-3am

Then he started howling shot down stairs and he had poo'd in 'the crate.

Had some time outside and about half an hour settling him down.

Back in the crate with clean bedding, he the settled between 4 and 6.45 am.

He is getting there I think and the tips I tries got him 5 solid hours sleep which was much better than the night before.

Thanks and any more input feel free.

Whatever method you use for training a puppy make sure you are consistant. Inconsistancy only creates a dog that doesnt understand you and makes you look like a weak pack member that will need to be dominated!

Our training starts off basic and includes things that can be forgotton to train to puppies and is difficult to train an older dog. things like retrieving a toy, not letting the pup be protective over food, clipping claws, opening the mouth (for tablets etc) and being able to examine without struggling (this has been invaluable for our other lurchers and saves us putting them under aneathetic for xrays (saving money and risk of death))

socialising is another big must for puppies, try and get them out as much as you can to meet all sorts of other dogs, cats, ferrets etc

Good luck with the pup, hope hes everything you want :)

I've just been through the whole puppy thing and I couldn't add anything that hasn't all ready been stated just re-iterate to be consistant,it can be a bit of a pain at first but my pup seems to know when its time to go away has she'll get ready by the back door to go out and do her business.

By the way mate that pup is a cracker all the best with its training and hope you have a long and happy life together
