.410 is a shotgun mate, therefore you would need a Shotgun Certificate (SGC) not a Firearms Certificate (FAC).

 

Not sure on minimum age for a FAC but if you can prove you have a requirement for a Shotgun you are old enough.

 

Don't wish to be rude but I suggest you have a read up.

In Northern Ireland you can apply for an F.A.C. at 16 but must be supervised until 18 by someone over 21 and has held a certificate for 3 years, then at 18 you can apply for 1 yourself.

i got my sgc at 15 but that was 21 years ago i dont know if its changed, but i think my dad had to be with me when i got my first gun (not on his sgc but just to accompany me i think).

 

cant see any reason why you shouldnt get it if you have a reason, if you dont have permission yet just join a clay pigeon club .
