Hannah4181 260
The dog wasn't being forced to do that, it could have stopped at any point. IMO in looked to be loving it . . . . . perhaps not you would choose to do with your dog, but lets not judge someone that has clearly spent HOURS with that dog, to achieve what he has. MuttleMcTuttle 21
Agree it's not cruel, but I don't like to see ickle doggies dressed up and made to look ridiculous like that. I prefer to watch something like this where there is obviously such a wonderful bond between dog and handler, and at no time is the dog made to look foolish, just the handlers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5TW_uKSCUA

Thats all well and good but the owner has spent many hours training the dog to do what HE wanted it to do....what benefit does the dog get out of it....training a dog to do something that is totally unnatural to a dog is not to be respected in my opinion. The owner might not mind the dog looking a f****n idiot but the poor dog dont know no better. rikjd 8
dogs have been trained and selectivley bred to human kinds every whim and desire for centuries so what makes this any different? just because its not to your individual taste doesnt make it wrong, the dog will love it because it considers it as work with its master and thats what all dogs want to do. gnasher16 31,602
A dog should be a help and companion, this is neither.....if the owner wanted a form of entertainment go to the cinema.....this is a case of serious exploitation of a dogs loyalty.....so what if the dogs tails wagging training a dog to dance around like this is of no use to anybody or anything apart from the weird mind of its owner. Would the owner dance around on all fours for his dogs entertainment,no he would probably feel degraded !!

So should we let dogs roam around doing what comes naturally to them all the time? What comes naturally to dogs (hunting in packs and preying on vulnerable small things, like children) tends to get them into trouble. I'd suggest that every dog owner spends time training his dog to do what HE wants to do and the dog will be all the happier for it. The dogs obviously enjoy this kind of thing - they get rewarded by the response of the "pack leader" and the knowledge that they belong. The majority of dogs simply want to please their owners. Apart from the dressing-up bit I'd like to see more people doing this kind of thing with their pet dogs. Many dogs are bored rigid and a lot of behavioural problems are down to this. We've not kept any sheep for a few years now, so if I hadn't trained my sheepdogs to do stuff like obedience and heelwork to music they would have eaten their kennels by now... Irish Lurcher 1,013
Some very valid points, I suppose that what makes the world go round, sure if we all agreed with each other it would be a very boring place. But I really don’t think that we need to be obnoxious to each other in order to get our point across, after all it’s a hunting forum.

Theres a big difference between encouraging a dog to do what comes natural and encouraging a dog to do what is totally unnatural....i cant think of many things more unnatural to a dog that walks on 4 feet than being dressed up and dancing to music on its hind legs can you !Just because a dog enjoys pleasing its master doesnt mean its having fun !!...
