mikeyblue 28
Hi All, Went out to my cricket club permission again this morning. I play for the club in the summer and the Groundsman had asked me to 'take care' of the rabbits, so over the past months I have been happy to oblige. They have been doing quite a lot of damage to the ground, scratting out little 'ankle breaking' holes. Got there just as the sun was coming up. As I arrived there were a few crows about, but it was the rabbits I was after again today. I have bagged a few over the last couple of months, and I'm taking the little and often route. I started the same as I do with every shoot, I checked zero on a drinks bottle top at 30m, it was spot on. I have been using Flecktarn cammo this year and found it excellent concealment, and excellent value for money. So fully camoflauged I started on my stalk around the grounds. I had to go the opposite way to my usual to keep the stalk into wind. This meant going over ground with little or no cover so it was as low and as slow as I could go until I got to the other side where I could hug the tree line. I arrived at the tree line and further along I could see two young rabbits feeding near the practice nets, quite unaware I was there. About 60m away. I started my approach keeping low and making no sudden movements. Avoiding the fallen leaves that I knew would crunch under foot. I took up my knealing firing position at an estimated 40-45m from the closest bunny. I didnt want to risk getting closer, and as it was still, I was confident of making a clean humane kill. I shouldered my TX200HC, slipped the safety catch off, CLICK, feckin ell, the two rabbits were sat bolt upright. I usually take the catch off during the stalk for that same reason, its quite loud! On the positive side, the bunny had presented itself as an ideal target. A mil-dot and a half hold over, squeeze through the trigger and the pellet was on its way to toppling the bunny. The smack of the pellet hitting home sent its mate running into the treeline. I reloaded, bagged my bunny and carried on the stalk. Arrived back at the motor with just the one bagged. I was happy enough with that, a nice little mornings outing. Flicked the guts out, and another 3/4 grown for the pot!! Stalked in from the left in the trees, bunny was about 10m from the net. (Picture taken in the summer for another thread) End of session pic. Kind Regards, Mikey. 2 Quote Link to post

mikeyblue 28
Hehe Cheers Lads, It was a very satisfying shot as I have recently moved to shooting springers, and have put a lot of time in at the club punching paper, and working on on my marksmanship, and its now starting to pay off!! P.S Im rather thinning myself, so have to take my slap heeeed into acount when considering camoflauge Mikey. 1 Quote Link to post
