The Ferret 0
I use my Brittany for ferreting, now that I've given up the Falconry thing, she loves it! She doesn't catch many but she tries her hardest. She'll sit and stare at a warren when the ferrets are down, though sometimes, once the whippet has launced himself at a bunny, she'll stand and watch as if to say "f**k it, he'll get it, I'll wait for the next one"! Give it a go, don't expect loads of bunnies, but if the dogs enjoy it, then it's worth it. Ferret Quote Link to post
minion 29
When I first started ferreting I was about twelve and we got a pup as a pet at the same time. She was a collie x lab and was bought puerly as a pet but i took her with me when i went ferreting. She turned into a fantastic marking dog and she learned how to pin netted rabbits. She was too heavaly built to catch rabbits in a chase but she caught a few in longer grass. She got a few with mixy but they dont count  She was very obediant and i think that really helped. I say go for it with your lab. As long as you and the dog enjoy it then that's what it's all about (to me anyway) Good luck. Edited December 23, 2006 by minion Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
I tried ferreting with a Border Collie, fine for marking but didn't catch many bolters over 20 yards Quote Link to post
