A good friend of mine phoned me last night to let me know his old bitch had died she was 21 years old i bred her and was the last of a strain of black and tan lurchers bred during the eighties so much for travellers all being bad with dogs she spent her entire life under a vardo in lincolnshire ive only seen one other running dog that made that age and that was a non ped whippet he died at twenty if its seven years to our one then thats some grand old age anyway R.i.p Bonnie

Thats a hell of an age mate..

Ive had 2 bitches that I bred that got to 13, both killed rabbits the year they died. I have a pure deerhound bitch here now, 12 years old a couple of weeks ago, and she got a rabbit last week.

My uncles lurcher molly died this summer at 19, Im not sure what cross it was.

What age do deerhounds normally live to mate, and do yours live longer than non-working strains?
