Nuthatch 1
I seem to be having trouble getting any longevity out of my battery's, I have bought 2 brand new 7ah battery's for my Lazerlite lamp they have had about 5 uses each and dont seem to hold much charge anymore. Where am I going wrong and how do you get a decent life out of your battery's. Any idea's or method's would be good
kenny14 656
If the batterys are lead acid type it's important that you keep them fully charged, i.e put them on charge as soon as you get home even if you've not used the lamp much. Never wait till they run fully flat. If you look after them like this you should get several years use from them. If you've been doing this, then you could have a short circuit somewhere. Check that there's no connection between the two terminals from anything that could conduct electricity, even a bit of moisture on the battery can allow current to gradually drain. It doesn't sound as though there's a problem with the lamp, but you could try checking the wiring on that too, lazerlites are pretty simple to dismantle and check. Hope you get it sorted. wirral countryman 2,110
your only as good as your charger, sounds like your using a car battery charger, that size battery only needs about 200 milli-amps,the correct charger is a must for certain types of battery, its not the volts that mess it up as they're all 12v,bigger the battery the bigger the charger, poundland do a plug in for 7a/hour,hope you sort it,wirralman
Mick C. 229
Have you got a trickle charger. A car battery charger will ruin the plates in a battery used for lamping.
