JohnGalway 1,043
Got a call this afternoon while I was opening drains on my farm. Hen taken night before last, could I take a look when I'm able too. Sure, just depends on the weather. Checked the provincial forecast on Met Eireann when I got home, looked good so I got all my bits and pieces together and headed off in the car. Checked backpack and lamp, all good, screw on mod, fill magazine, bolt in, 'pod legs out, and away I go. Walk over the first hillock, full moon out, fox sitting looking at me right where I expected him. Crouch down, clip on lamp quietly, always keeping it pointing in foxys direction. Lay down, crosshairs on chest, squeeze, fox falls over Rocket science this isn't. Dog fox, haven't a clue to the range, close enough to not bother ranging it. Quote Link to post

JohnGalway 1,043
Another one bits the dust tis a pity about the hen, was it the usual head off arse eaten? I haven't a clue, farmer that found the hen, I never saw it. There's not usually trouble with mink or badgers in that place. Well done fella nice bit of shooting what rifle do you use and what was the range Ta Remington VL SS .223 and don't know the range, something between 120 and 150 yards maybe, close enough not to be bothered ranging it for sure. nice going john... lots of young dog foxes on the move, its the time of year when they get kicked out, so looking for new territory to call there own. Yeah there sure is a lot at this time of year Murph, I haven't really bothered going out after them properly yet as I'm busy with the farm and other things, need my beauty sleep don't ya know lol. nice outfit, do you find 1kg of black tape affect anything ! result I find it helps keep the rifle steady in high winds Clint lol. Ah no, I was getting a bit of glare from the arse end of the mod back onto the scope so that is now solved, certainly not pretty but works! The silage tape over the flower pot keeps all light off and away from me and close walls and rocks that may light me up. Quote Link to post
