livin-it-up-08 2
Cheers lads! yeah ive heard that about the hedges when they are lamped but she is flying through the hedges now like a bull x lol hopefully she wont change. Yeh i only want her for day time really as long as she makes a good day dog if not il lamp her and use her as a allrounder depending and buy a better dog for the day. im hoping it will make her better at striking and also make her fit Quote Link to post
Hunting Lad 50
every lurcher I have had has mainly been lamped but they always got runs through the day and never had them pull up because of a hedge. Saying that if you lamp a dog it is automatically going to start pulling up at hedges is bollocks... JMO I think an odd bit of lamping wouldnt do any harm mate but if you only want it for daytime just stick to what you are doing Quote Link to post

livin-it-up-08 2
or well i took her lamping last night and she was bollocks lol ..she never pulled up on any hedges tho, infact when she flew into them and i lost her for a few seconds i wasn't sure if she was going to walk back out or if i was going to have to carry her back to the car ha ..she was trying far to hard tho, running flat out to get to them not expecting the rabbit to turn as quick, then when the rabbit turned she went 100yards past and then had to run as fast as she cud to get to them again lol she caught 2 tho so its better than nothing, i think this lamping will definately get her better at turning and striking and i'l just course her aswel so she knows to go through hedges Quote Link to post
samba 534
as for lamping a coursing dog does no harm what so ever and if yous think that pulling up at hedges is caused by lamping think again a dog that pulls up at hedges while lamping is not going to catch many unless you lamp in great open feilds id wouldnt keep a lurcher what started pulling up at hedges day/night they have to get in there to catch quarry Quote Link to post

I have never heard so much shit in all my loife 31/2 months you people now about dogs or what running a dog at that age damages the development of the organs for running and stamina(Heart and Lungs)i promise you running a dog from this age will not result in a good coursing lamping or walking dog.
