noddy10 411 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Share Posted September 19, 2010 what do you lads and lasses use.... my dogs got a cut on his chest, but dosent need stitching so iv been told. its takeing some time to heal. iv tried various stuff like greenoils, woundpowder aswel as being batthed with dilooted detol/salt water. no im just going to leave it to take its course. Chid 6,815 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Share Posted September 19, 2010 if it dont need stitching i normaly use blustone on cuts soon as i get in , and just keep my eye on them , i think if you fuss to much with it , dog keeps licking it and it dont heal as quick. sandymere 8,263 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 They are moving away from chemical cleaning of uninfected, clean wounds as many antiseptic type treatments actualy damage the new tissue and may slow development of the forming capillaries. Water is favorite. Did the vet advise cleaning or dressings? if not a telephone call to them might be worth a thought. I've a bitch that worries wounds and can turn a scratch into an open wound in a couple of days, I use a tee shirt, tied at the waste, to stop her getting to wounds on the front end.
