Guest vin
Ive taken a chance..but sometimes you gotta put a bit of trust into someone on face value..Met the fella, heard his reasons for parting company. took his word that the dog was OK. I'm sure there will be a few bad habits and mistakes along the way... Nobody parts with the best dog in the world do they. Fingers are crossed. its a long way to go to the end of winter. DogMagic 461
Why not buy a pup? without sounding funny who the hell parts with a GOOD lamping bitch? Its true mate, a good dog is a very hard thing to come by as its owners want to remain its owners. The one youve got could be taught tho. Take it ferreting, dont peg the nets. This way the nets will slow the rabbit down and then you say "GO ON BOY"! He will lunge forward and grab the rabbit, you give plenty of praise, dog gets happy and learns that catching rabbits is allowed and pleases his master. Next step would be a disoreintated rabbit. How you disoreintate the thing i will leave to your imagination! Lol! But so long as its either dizzy or dont know where it is it will be easier for dog to catch. Again plenty of praise is needed when he catches it. Take it from there. Quote Link to post

happylamper 7
Wind was well up earlier..little bit of drizzle.perfect ! Had a mooch with my daft rescue dog just to see whats about for future reference in a couple of old spots. Had some runs on daft rabbits dancing in the beam that a bloody terrier would have caught, and still this daft old messed up thing failed.LOL. Its comedy now to me,it makes me laugh how bad it is.....good job the missis and young un love the daft old bugger. Ive decided to retire the dog and leave it inside of an evening warming my side of the bed up for me...lol. It's not coming lampin ever again..end of...it can come ferreting and mooching in daytime and pretend to be a Lurcher. But for me I'm gonna admit defeat for the 1st time ever and say "I've failed". Believe me..I have tried hard to get this dog going on the lamp but its just not fast enough or anywhere near clever enough for the easiest of bunnies. No matter what...you cannot polish a turd. I've had a second/third/and fourth opinion from better dog men than I ever was/were/or could be and its agreed without doubt why it was a rescue dog in the 1st place,But we have had some side slitting laughs finding out of an evening.LOL. So its time for a fresh start,Ive posted in the wanted section for a Lampin bitch if anyone knows of anything coming up available. i cant take another winter without a bit of lampin. I have already spoken to one or two very very decent people who have offered me pups and Dogs but no suitable bitch so far anywhere Nr Yorkshire. Check my add in wanted section and PM me please if you know of anything. ATB Vin. hey up vin this is forsale unspoilt its a friend of mine a few doors away from me the bitch in east yorkshire. Guest vin
Cheers Happylamper. I've got a little bitch now. Beddy X ...she,s showing great promise and is bursting to go. had her out in the day and she,s spot on ! she,s well game on the lamp, but I'm still having a right job finding her any wabbits to go at. There's way too many foxes and too many people shooting out of car windows where i live .so all i do see is sat in the hedge and Lamp shy. Had a few drives out of town but still not managed to find a place with any numbers worth going for.I need to get this young dog out on a couple of good nights with some sitters and make sure she has a good start...I'm in danger of ruining her before she starts if i keep going out and drawing blanks. I got lost the other night i was wondering about for that long... I had to use my TOM TOM to find where i was...lol. all the best VIN Quote Link to post
Rey27 83
Thats a shame mate but at least you've given him a fair chance to prove himself and a good home even though he failed. Theres not many people out there who'd be as honest. Good luck finding the right bitch Quote Link to post
