my mates dog has dislocate its toe we brought it to the vet and they said the bone is going back in the wrong way.We have bring dog back in 2 weeks but talking till greyhound man he said just get it caught off just wondering if anyone run a dog with a toe missing and does it stop the dog turning as good with all its toes etc etc.By the way its the front right if that makes a diff

dosnt make a difrence to the dog an heals faster than trying 2 mend it

If he gets it toe of it could put more pressure on the remaining ones, does your mate not know of a good greyhound vet who may still be able to pin fire the toe, a mate of mine had similar trouble years ago, the vet pin fired the toe for him and it somehow fused the bone and he never had trouble with it anymore.

my 1st ever lurcher had toe dislocated and suffered all her working life i was very inexperienced at lurchers and i just laid her up for weeks and popped it back ,but my last bitch coursed a roe when i was off guard and it was middle of summer so she actually cracked a knuckle so i was not going down this road again for 2 reasons 1 obviosly cruel on the bitch and 2 lack of use with her so i gambled and had it off she was off for a few months and ran on it very gingerly and also a confindece thing once she was fully fit she runs perfect and still tuns on a 6 pence for a 3/4 grey 1/4 shepherd 24" and solid

hope this helps your choice also what type of land does the dog run also comes into the equation

will not be a problem when removed just put a elastic band around the other toes to stop them spreading

had quite a few raceing greyhounds had to have a toe off and never bothered them had 1 that had 2 off on the same foot its times hardley changed.

save the hassle mate get the toe removed asap 10 weeks off to let it heal over another 4/5 weeks to get the dog fit again run the dog and it fucks up again if we get frost after that the dogs season for this year is over.

get it off now the dogs lay off for 3/4 weeks ready to run again. get 2 dog boots from pets at home put it over the dressing to keep it dry saves infection setting in from wet dressings. road work from day one with the boot on 2 keep the dog semi fit and get it putting the foot down. as soon as you get back put a dry one on .tape the boot on so the dog don't get it off in the run.

always check the dressing to make sure its dry at all times if its wet at all get it changed right away don't take any risks of infection setting in.

Seen an open class greyhound run and win with an inside toe of at the front an a midle at the back he also had his tail removed due to constant bursting maybe a one of but seen him set a track record and make a tit out some handy dogs. Get it of mate itl make no diff to the dog at all as already stated will save more time and repucutions, Only time it would be a problem is 2 toe's on the one foot dog would be dun .
