Seriously that is some monster rat isnt it.

I saw this headline on the front page of the sun today.The picture inside was blurry and taken at arms length.Im always sceptical of such pics in any mag/paper etc.Hold a fish for example towards a camera and it looks massive.The guy says he shoots rats twice a week,a 30 inch rat is a monster and most people would have it photographed next to a tape measure.Someone from the mammal society and the rspca said it was probably a foreign species.Someone else in the area said they had seen rats the size of a cat but not that big ive killed a few rats and have never killed one as big as a cat....nowhere near.Last year DD timbers king rat comp was won with a 21.5 inch rat which i knew was the biggest rat id ever seen and probably ever will.As i expected people were thinking they had caught big rats but they were the topside of average.

I reckon most rats i kill are about 14 inch nose to tail,a biggish rat is 18 inch.I was out with hedgehunter last year when her terrier caught a 19 1/2 inch rat.I brought it home to put it next to a tape measure as i knew that it was the biggest id seen caught for some time.It might seem strange to measure a rat but as a rat hunter these "specimens" are my Bensons and Two Tones.

 

A few people are claiming big rats this year so please buy a cheap tape measure and show us all pics.All my adults this year have been 14-18 inch.I dont need to measure them all off-course as you know when ones a bit longer than the norm.

 

This story might prove to be a massive brown rat but i dought it,i hope im wrong though...........id happily travel for the chance to take them

just read the link,what a shame that probably the biggest rat ever killed in Britain was dumped and eaten by a fox

at least it helps sell newspapers.
