R0G3R 11
Hi guys, I shot at a Bench shooting comp on Saturday with a HW50s. It really impressed me. I did a 16mm ctc group at 25m. It chronied 730fps with AA 8.44gr 4.52 pellets IIRC. I ordered myself one, hoping to do some hunting with it. Now the question, did I do the right thing or did I make a mistake? I will use it for Bench shooting and maybe even NFT as well. But main purpose... HUNTING All comments welcome. Thanks and keep well guys, Roger! Edited August 17, 2010 by R0G3R Quote Link to post
shotup 9
had one of these nearly thirty years ago the hw50s brilliant for accuracy and great for hunting rabbits and crows etc. Quote Link to post

R0G3R 11
Thanks for the feedback guys. What distance can I expect to make good, clean kills at with this rifle? Hoping about 30m/35y... Thanks, Roger! Quote Link to post

Thanks, Roger! YEP out to 45 if you do your bit correctly, but 35 yards is a nominal distance for your average shooter. Marksman such as Si (Zini) can pull off much longer with a good springer such as HW's Phantom Quote Link to post
R0G3R 11
Now the waiting starts. Once I get it I will shoot about 200 pellets through it, then I am sending it to have it tuned with a permanent silencer fitted. What scope?? I was thinking the Nikko Stirling 3-9 x40 Diamond?? R0G3R 11
Ok just got a quote from a friend. He suggests the Leapers 4-16x50AO scope. Roger! Quote Link to post

andyfr1968 772
Hi, Rog3r. I had one years back and they're a lovely little rifle. Mine was .177 too and shot very well with RWS Superdomes but there's more choice these days... Good luck with it, mate. Cheers. Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Rog, First of all id like to say congrats on the great shooting with the springer and for purchasing one yourself buddy The Weihrauch family of rifles are amongst the best spring piston rifles i have ever shot and only matched by Air Arms in my personal opinion. About 4 to 5 weeks ago i did a swap with money with a good friend of mine on here from a Air Arms S400 with HW silecer in .177 to a HW35. The rifle was chronoed only at 10.3 FP by my F1 chrono but was very consistent and had a very slight shot to shot deviation. I used it on a plinking range from 5 to 45 yards shooting both small 1cm to 2.5cm targets to good effects, even hitting small chalk targets at 45 yards with ease (witnessed by Reggaeman and others) from this section. The rifle was still retaining more than 5 Fp at 45 yards (well enough to kill rabbits humanely) if the shot is placed in the kill zone. I then went on holiday with my Russian friend Sergej for a week hunting in Oxfordshire UK and i lent him the Weihrauch. He loved it that much he wanted the rifle for himself. Due to him having a birthday at the end of this month i gave him the rifle as a present from me and my girlfriend. I really do recommend any full power Weihrauch rifle mate. They are well built, accurate beyond believe and will not let you down if looked after. Best of luck with yours buddy when it comes Si FAO Phantom Cheers for the kind comments Tony buddy Si Edited August 18, 2010 by zini Quote Link to post
