A couple of hours on the new permission

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Finally managed a couple of hours at one of my new permissions, I loaded up the car with the Falcon FN19, dog and camera and off i went.

Reached my destinantion in less than 10mins(one of the many plusses with this place) and as i pulled into the yard i saw a cheeeky youngster sat next to the tractor, he shot off as i got out. I could see 3 more in the second paddock by the man made lake and a dozen or so along the tree line. I reached for the camera so i could get a few pics of the place to add to this post, turned it on and and proceeded to snap away, nothing, looked at the screen only to see the shape of an empty battery flashing back at me(this is typical of my luck, if i threw a bag of fannies in the air i'd cath our lasses!!)

Anyway feeling dissapointed with myself for not checking before i set off i headed for the next set of fields that holds most of the burries and has thick gorse around the hedges, ideal for a bit a stalking. Having the dog with me wasnt ideal for shooting but he needed the walk as i'd been at work all day. I walked round the perimeter and saw loads of bunnies by a big bury in a large banking. I decided to have a crack at potting one, i saw three likey candidates feeding away and the gorse offers almost total cover to within 25yrds of them, i left the dog by the fence and proceeded towards them i got within range and slowly shouldered the rifle as i did one of the horses was spooked by my movement and ran towards the rabbits, two of them shot for cover leaving me one of this years 3/4 grown bucks. I placed the cross hair just the right of the bottom of his ear and squeezed the trigger the little un gave a few kicks then nothing, a lovely clean kill!!

It was then time to start heading for home, only one in the bag but for me it was more about getting comfy in my new surroundings.

I then remembered i had my phone with me and took a couple of pics, i will upload them as soon as i find the lead for the computer.
