WILF 51,070
So I had a little do out last night with the new toy to start to get the feel of it, shot 7 but missed a few I should have hit. The scopes zero is 100yds and I was missing a few out at the 50-60 yd mark. Now I was aiming low to compensate but still missing, will the round fly fairly flat out to this distance or do I need to be compensating some more? Rifle is a savage .22, 20 inch barrel + mod. I was using winchester rounds. Any advice would be very welcome (and dont say specsavers, my mates give me that already! ) Quote Link to post
JohnGalway 1,043
Zero closer in, I suggest 60 yards. Set out targets in 10 yard intervals from 10 - 100 yards. Shoot at them without compensating and record the POI high/low and by how much on each. That will tell you exactly how loopy the .22lr trajectory is, there's no better way of getting an idea than doing it and seeing the results first hand, sticks with you. Aside from that, use the best possible rest available, prone and bipod if possible and be consistent, same cheek weld, same trigger pull etc each time. If your own range finding ability isn't the best, invest in a range finder. There's plenty more, but that'll get you started. Edited July 18, 2010 by JohnGalway Quote Link to post

kieran222 0
It may be worth having a look at one of the ammunition manufacturers websites to get a rough idea of the trajectory expected. Try the one below and select Ballistics (US for measurements in yards/inches). You can then get an idea of where you should be setting your Zero. http://www.norma.cc/default.asp?Lang=2# Hope this helps. Quote Link to post
