unlacedgecko 1,467
I will shorty be moving to Germany for work. I have read some information on the internet about the requirements for German Hunters examinations. However this only talks about gun hunting (shotguns/rifles for deer and birds etc). Can anyone give me information on digging in Germany. What is legal quarry? Are licences required? Etc. Thanks very much. Ug Quote Link to post
erik 71
you can dig badgers if you like between august september and oktober fox also can be dug till end of marth coons posseble nutria's ,,also good sport only problem is is that you need a german hunting license , but don't worry to mush cuz i don't have any and i dig my ass off there as for dogs, the germans are not really diggers so if your stard ,stard whit a dog who bold there quarry and end whit your digging dog where your going.??? unlacedgecko 1,467
Cheers for the reply erik. Thanks for the bump panna. I'm in Lower Saxony near Gutersloh. I intend on getting my German hunting licence (Jagdschein) as soon as possible. The only problem I have at the minute is I dont have a dog as my terrier died a few weeks before I left UK. I havent been able to replace her yet as work is busy, and I dont have as much time as I would like to spend on a dog. I have all the locator equipment but lacking that key ingredient. It is a shame that the Germans don't dig. Do you know of any local digging clubs I could join where I could watch other people's dogs work/help with the digging? thanks Ug Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
try this, a link to a guy in Germany who digs with sausagedogs(I know, Dachshounds) http://terriermandotcom.blogspot.com/2006/01/german-raccoon-dog-badger-and-raccoon.html Quote Link to post
erik 71
it will be allot work and money to get your hunting license so only stard that if your really plan to stay long , as for clubs,,, there are some small groeps actif but not mush , i can you already make you happy by telling you that we are digging not so far from Gutersloh Quote Link to post
unlacedgecko 1,467
Thanks for the info erik. Im into shooting and stalking as well, so I think it will be worth it. I have all the necessary locating equipment, but as I was saying to Panna, Im lacking a dog at the moment. If you ever need a hand with a shovel, or are generous to let me come watch your dogs work, I would enjoy that very much. cheers Ug Quote Link to post
